It was the perfect end to a season full of ups and downs in which the Raiders won their third straight football State Championship. This history-making achievement scored the St. Thomas Aquinas (STA) Raiders a spot in the Geico State Champion Bowl Series. Two weeks after becoming the first team in Broward County to earn the spot, the STA Raiders were back on the road, this time bound for Frisco, Texas.

The game, featuring the STA Raiders and Bingham Miners, kicked off at 8:30 pm Central Time at The Star, the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters. The Raiders were off to a quick start in the first quarter when quarterback Jake Allen connected with Michael Harley for a 44-yard touchdown pass. In an exclusive interview, Michael Harley told Raider Review, “I set the team up for a good field position, and it gave us the confidence we needed.” In the second quarter, Outside Linebacker Tyler Dunning recovered a fumble and ran 99 yards for another Raider touchdown.

STA’s dominance continued through halftime, and at the conclusion of the third quarter, Aquinas led 30-0. Just when it looked like the Raiders had an easy win, Bingham surged to score 25 points in the fourth quarter, opposed to Aquinas’ 3. The Raiders fought hard in the end and came up with the win in the Geico Bowl Series, earning the Raider Nation an early Christmas present.
