On March 8, at five in the morning, almost 500 members of the Saint Thomas Aquinas High School (STA) Senior Class of 2017 gathered in the gym. There was great excitement as they boarded the buses that would take them to Universal Studios for Grad Day. Having feasted on delicious donuts, courtesy of Mrs. Simmons, the students boarded ten buses that were headed to Orlando.

When they arrived at the park at around 10:00 AM, the seniors set out in all directions, ready to create some terrific Grad Day memories in true STA tradition. Whether they started in Universal Studios then headed over to Islands of Adventure later, or stayed in Islands the entire time, seniors decided which paths they wanted to take. Lines to every ride were filled with STA seniors, easily recognized by their Raider-blue shirts. The seniors shared special moments with their friends and reminisced over old ones, as they cued up for the rides.

Whether boarding every roller coaster, getting drenched on the water rides, splurging in the gift shops, or eating food from every section of the park, the seniors made the most of Grad Day. Stefanie Davidson said that, “Grad Day was one of the last chances to have fun and be together as a senior class before graduation, and it was one of the greatest experiences I’ve had at STA so far.”

For the class of 2017, this event was the major highlight of the year, one of the most memorable experiences of high school for the seniors, and a perfect opportunity to spend quality time with friends.  It was the most opportune and final time for the seniors to make cherished memories with their peers before they part ways at the fast-approaching end of the year.
