On November 5, 2019, Saint Thomas Aquinas High School (STA) held the annual Tribute to Our Veterans at the Bienes Center. The concert included performances by STA’s orchestra and chorale. Prior to the concert, Saint Thomas Aquinas Jazz Band’s enthusiastic performance greeted attendees as they entered the Bienes Center.

Music Director Mr. Richard Bradford conducted the orchestra throughout the performance. Under his guidance, these musicians rehearsed for several weeks before the event. Some of the songs the band performed were The Star Spangled Banner, Spirit of an Eagle, March on America, American Armed Forces Salute, and Torch of Liberty.

Chorale Director Mrs. Wanda Drozdvitch not only prepared her students but also played the piano on stage with the chorale during the show. The main chorale, which includes all members of the choir, performed Soldier and We Honor You. The Chamber Choir which is made up of juniors and seniors sang God Bless America. Lastly, the Men’s Group performed Tell My Father

The main purpose of the Tribute to Our Veterans is to celebrate all veterans and to make them feel special. Mrs. Drozdvitch looks forward to even more of our community’s beloved veterans attending next year’s performance. She told the Raider Review that she hoped that perhaps they could  “… go out to the places the Veterans are, like VA hospitals, and make some flyers and posters to promote the concert.”

The Tribute to our Veterans is an annual STA event that usually takes place at the beginning of November. Make sure to come to the concert next year for a night of music to celebrate and remember all our veterans.
