At the Diriyah Arena in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, professional boxer Tommy Furry defeated social media influencer Jake Paul by split decision in round 8. The fight was scheduled to be in December of 2021 but postponed because Fury canceled due to a broken rib injury. The fight was then scheduled to be in August of 2022 but once again postponed because Fury was denied entry to the United States, as he is from the United Kingdom. “The two have gone hard at each other in interviews and on social media after the last two-plus years heading into the grudge match. Paul is most known for his social media exploits, but he has taken the boxing world by storm over the last three years, becoming a featured attraction in the ring”, states ESPN staff writer Marc Raimondi.

The fight was finally set on Sunday February 26, 2023. Fury came out of the gate super aggressive. Many punches were thrown but not many landed. Jake Paul came in with a right hook and an overhand. Fury then landed a combo late in round 1. Throughout the match, Jake Paul was having a good fight but Tommy Fury was having an even better fight. After multiple warnings, the referee took a point from Paul in the fifth round. Then, he deducted a point from Fury in the sixth making the points even out. In round 8, the unexpected happened as Fury stepped forward, Paul had a perfectly timed left hook knocking Fury to the ground. After that, Fury put up a good fight to tie it 75-75 and the end of round 8. Fury won by split decision to make the score 76-75 pocketing $3.7 million from the fight.
