The Last of Us was released this year on January 15, streaming on HBO Max, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie. This show is an adaptation of the popular video game that originally came out on June 14, 2013. After the game’s success, four more came out that were just as successful. The show is loved by many because it is an authentic adaptation of the original storyline of the game. By the first day the first episode was released, there were already 223 hours viewed.
The Last of Us is about a man named Joel and a young girl named Ellie who have to survive while living in a post-apocalyptic world. The setting is a small town in Austin, Texas and the story unfolds when we see a little girl named Sarah looking for her dad, whom we soon learn is Joel. This is when chaos happens! Joel, Sarah, and Joel’s brother, Tommy, try to escape, but Sarah doesn’t make it. Once the brothers escape, they meet Ellie, but everything is different. The world is in chaos, and many people are infected causing them to turn into aggressive creatures. The story goes on as the episodes are released every Sunday on HBO Max, and the finale on March 12, 2023.
