Ryan Garcia vs. Tank Davis was one of the most highly anticipated fights of 2023, taking place in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Both boxers came into this fight undefeated with their reputations on the line. The fight took place Saturday, April 22, 2023. Before the fight Tank was 29-0 with a 93.1% knockout percentage. Tank fights southpaw (stronger side forward) and he is much shorter than Garcia standing at 5’6. Garcia fights orthodox (weaker side forward) and has a record of 23-0. Garcia is much taller standing at 5’10, but Garcia is also much younger at 24 years old while Tank is 28. Going into the fight Tank warned Garcia, “Don’t Even Bring Your Mother or Your Daughter.” Threatening to break his jaw. Garcia responded with, “I just need a single shot. Just one. Trust me. The left hook. “When I touch anything, you’re going to sleep. I feel like I’m gonna break your jaw with a hook. I just see you on the floor with a broken jaw.”

First round of the fight Tank and Garcia didn’t really do much,they were feeling each other out and did not land any major punches. The judges gave that round to Garcia putting him up 1-0 with 11 rounds to go. Round two-six Tank won every round even though he didn’t throw many punches. The punches he threw were extremely effective, and the judges saw the way Garcia was taking them. Garcia was not able to throw his formidable left hook, and Tank seemed to be controlling the fight. During round seven Garcia and Tank were trading blows when tank hits Garcia with a powerful live shot. Garcia tried to walk it off until he fell to his knees and lost by knockout. This one of the greatest matches of the year and many fans are hoping for a rematch in the near future.
