The girls’ Aquinas Tennis Team won states during the last week of April where they played against Auberndale and won. They also won states the previous year, making them champions two years in a row. Throughout the season they played and practiced hard to qualify for states.
Aquinas Tennis player, Sofia Pione, had this to say about her opportunity to go to states, “Being able to go to states as a team was an amazing experience. I have been to states with the tennis team two years in a row now and all I can say is that it teaches you and shows you what it is like being on a team. I loved being able to spend time with my team off and on the court.” This shows what a great bonding experience team sports can be. Achieving greatness as a team brings the school together. Being a teammate, student, or even staff member at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School is a great experience; this school isn’t just a school, it is a family fueled by faith. Pione agreed, “Winning states was special because we worked so hard to get there as a team. Which proves, hard work pays off. Here at STA, we are a family that is very supportive of our sports teams and clubs. That’s what makes us a great school.”
