The Saint Thomas Aquinas soccer team has begun summer training. The team is actively in the weight room on Tuesdays and Thursdays in order to prepare for next year’s season. Workouts begin with a 5 minute ab warm-up before the team divides into groups and does various exercises. Gym work ends with a plank-pushup line, where each person has to hold a plank until everyone hits a pushup. The team concludes practice with a scrimmage game outside to wrap up training.
Summer Workouts
Towards the end of the preseason, the team will begin summer workouts and will continue training throughout the summer. Summer workouts take place 3 times a week. Much of the training is difficult but helps the team to progress in performance.
Interview
Rising senior, Sebastian Nimbett-Clarke, shared his thoughts for next year’s season: “I am looking forward to being the sole goal scorer and winning the state ring. I am like a leader since I’m going into my senior year and will work to emphasize that role. I felt that I dropped off a little last season but now I’m locked in and feel confident. Workouts have gotten a lot harder but I feel myself getting stronger for next season.”
