As summer break approaches, so does finals week. Most students are preparing for their finals in advance, others are waiting until the last minute to study. As scary as finals may seem, they could be used as a major benefit to your grade and GPA.
Finals week at STA is here, and everyone has mixed emotions. They are excited that school is ending, but not excited about the exams. Connor Marrero, a freshman at STA, said that he is sad that school is ending because he won’t see his friends for a while and because he has nothing to do. The teachers are probably happy that the year is over as well, but they have to grade every exam. There are also some people who are sad about the school year ending, some teachers will miss their students and some students will miss their teachers. Mrs. Juskiewicz, a math teacher at STA stated, “I am glad that school is over because I get to spend time with my family.”
At St. Thomas Aquinas, the teachers and staff value their students and are helping them prepare for their finals a week ahead. They are making study guides and are going over the important parts, which is very useful. If you are stuck and are not sure how to study, or just do not have the patience, ask a friend for help. There is a high chance that they are willing to help you understand the material, and you guys can make it fun. A lot of students/friends study together because of this. You can even study with your teacher!
There are so many ways to study, but here are the more effective methods that will most likely work on anyone. If you study divided material 30 minutes each day up until the exam, you will memorize it a lot easier than you would if you were to study all the material for hours. It also helps if you have a designated study space where you can focus a bit more (library, desk, etc).
Now that you know more efficient and helpful ways to prepare for finals, put them to use. You never know, they may help you a lot more than you think. Overall, STA hopes that the students ace their exams and they wish the best of luck to everyone.
