There have been a lot of trade rumors surrounding the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers. At the NBA combine in Chicago, the LA Lakers President of Basketball Operations, Rob Pelinka, met with Brooklyn Nets General Sean Marks. Sources say that the two could have discussed a potential Kyrie Irving or Russuell Westbrook trade.
What would a trade look like for the two teams? The LA Lakers do not really have many draft picks because of the Anthony Davis trade that they made with the Pelicans for forward Anthony Davis. On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets are in a similar situation; they also do not have many draft picks. The Brooklyn Nets would want a lot in return for star PG Kyrie Irving, who averaged about 27.4 points per game. Lakers’ Russell Westbrook averaged about 18.5 points a game. Both teams are potentially looking to make a trade because of how their seasons ended; the Lakers did not make the NBA playoffs and the Nets were swept 4-0 in the first round of the playoffs. But, for the Lakers to make a deal with the Nets, they would likely have to include the little picks that they have and include players like Talen Horton Tucker, Austin Reaves, Malik Monk, and even veteran guard Kendrick Nunn. The Brooklyn Nets clearly have the advantage in negotiations but the outcome will rest on what the Lakers will be willing to give up.
