In the 2023 National Championship, the number one seed team, Georgia Bulldogs, faced off against number three ranked TCU. When Georgia got the ball, they drove down the field and scored with a 21- yard run, opening the score at 7-0. On the next drive TCU fumbled the ball, giving Georgia the ball on the 33-yard line, but Georgia failed to score and had to settle for a field goal, making the score 10-0. TCU was determined to score after they fumbled the ball on the previous drive and threw a 60-yard bomb and finished it with a 2 yard run to make it 10-7. After the touchdown Georgia struck back instantly scoring in 4 plays bringing the score to 17-7.
TCU was stopped and forced to punt once again. Georgia got the ball and had a long 11 play drive, which resulted with another touchdown, making it 24-7. TCU barely got down the field before throwing an interception, giving the ball back to Georgia; they would score again. TCU, now needing to make a comeback, was sacked and then intercepted in their redzone before they could do anything with the ball. Georgia now had the ball in the red zone and made a 22-yard pass for the touchdown. TCU retrieved the ball just before the half and unable to go anywhere, they let the clock run down. The Score was 31-7 at halftime.
Georgia got the ball back in the 2nd half and was held to a three and out, punting the ball back to TCU. TCU then recovered the ball and was also held to a three and out, forced to punt the ball right back at them. Georgia drove the ball straight into the endzone through a fast and efficient drive, ending with a 14 yard pass for touchdown. TCU got the ball back and the offensive struggles continued as they went for it on 4th down and 11 and could not convert, turning the ball over on downs. Georgia drove straight back down the field scoring another touchdown and making the score an astonishing 59-7. Yet, Georgia wasn’t done. They held TCU to a three and out and scored once more to make the final score 65-7.
