The game of football has had many amazing players, but none like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. They have brought an insane amount of memories to the world of football. Ronaldo is seen as the greatest spokesman of the Champions League and Messi has won a World Cup beating all odds.
This heated debate has been a hot topic ever since these two players entered their prime. It’s been agreed that the debate probably started around 2009, when Lionel Messi had his breakout season after debuting in 2007, Cristiano Ronaldo had already debuted in 2002.
In the debate between these two players, fans have always argued their opinion by stats. The first thing that comes to mind is scored goals. Currently, Cristiano Ronaldo has 827 to Lionel Messi’s 804. Many people argue Cristiano Ronaldo is better with more goals scored but Lionel Messi has played less games.. The category of points is harder to compare because the two players weren’t the main attacking choice in their team until a few years into their career. Next, fans will typically try to compare the level of difficulty of the league and then revise expected output. If the players don’t meet this output they will use this as evidence of how one is better than the other.

Now that our two generational talents are getting older, they are moving to leagues that people would say are “Farmers League.” In retrospect, these leagues are more competitive than people think. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are two amazing players who have graced the game and rather than spreading hate, we should spread the love for these two great players.
