The songwriter and popular singer, Lana Del Rey, just released her latest album titled “Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.” The album features a 78-minute collection of 16 songs. Lana Del Rey says most songs on this album are handwritten letters she never mailed. According to the New York Times, “This Lana Del Rey album is about the very heart of things. Its themes and lyrical preoccupations are philosophical and weighty: the existence of God; the afterlife; the precise moment the soul leaves the body; the concessions of marriage and motherhood; fate; familial bonds; and, on the strikingly melancholy centerpiece.”
There are mixed feelings about Lana Del Rey’s new album. Some people will support Lana Del Rey till no end while others have different preferences of music. One sophomore said, “I am a big fan of Lana and everything she does is amazing to me. She’s so talented and her new album is amazing and I listen to it every day.” A freshman responded, “This album is definitely different and slow. It is the perfect album for when you are feeling down or calm. My favorite song is “Let the Light In.” It puts me in such a relaxed mood.” Meanwhile, a senior said, “I am not a fan of Lana Del Rey; her songs are too slow and sad. I did try to listen to her new album but I do not like it because it makes me feel depressed.” Sophomore Drew Sobchak says, “Some of Lana’s songs are good, I am very picky with her music. Her new album is just not good and not my music taste.”
